I love to give back to the community whenever I can, and sponsoring Bathford Primary School throughout 2024 is one of the many ways I am supporting the community. This sponsorship, in particular, is very close to my heart. Me and my sister, Joanne, grew up in Bathford and my whole primary education was at Bathford school. In addition, my Mum, Liz Whitfield, was the reception teacher for many years and some of you may recognise her name. Apparently, I wasn’t happy she was a teacher whilst I was attending, but I don’t remember that. Maybe it wasn’t so bad after all. I do remember Mrs Mullins, the dinner lady, though! “Eat your cabbage, it will make your teeth curl”. I didn’t want curly teeth, and still don’t eat cabbage! Some very odd but also very fond memories were made there.
My eldest daughter and her husband are both teachers now in Berkshire, and I know firsthand the difficulties all schools have with funding various projects or even the basics. Supporting schools and giving back to communities is important to my business and Bathford was a clear choice for me. To me this is more than just a company sponsorship, this is supporting a school community that holds fond memories for all my family and is an integral part of the village. A great school maintains great property demand and pricing in your area, so it is essential to give it your support.
